Artist's Comments

Contrary to popular belief, we do see beautiful colors on the waters of New England. This Photo was taken probably 6 months ago on the north end, facing east of Jamestown in Rhode Island's Naragansett Bay. It was taken at about 6 in the morning just as the sun was coming up. It was without question, the most magnificent thing I have ever seen.

I'm not going to pretend to be a photographer and talk about lighting and composition, exposure etc. I don't know what I'm talking about. This picture was not taken with a digital SLR or anything of the sort, it was a point and shoot sort of camera (a nice one however...). All I know is that, on that morning, the clouds were red and the water was bright orange. Its worth noting that the water was this strong shade of orange even when I got close to it. I probably took about 50 shots, out of all of them, this is the best. I felt it was worthy of putting up here, just for people to see. I do have other pictures if you want to see. I've never seen anything quite like this.

Photograph taken with 8 megapixel Nikon "Coolpix" 8700 point and shoot digital camera

Yeah it was pretty wild to see it in person. I opened my shade and...."holy shit" there it was. I kind of forgot I was tired and it was a school morning and everything. Grabbed my camera and ran down to the shore in my pajamas heh. Makes a good enough story I think ;)

Great shot! I've always wanted to shoot sunrise but I'm too tired in the morning to get up. Thats not a great spirit for a photographer ^^

I do love when the sun sets like this.. You'd think you were in some exotic place rather then little old RI. Beautifull job catching it, since our waters arn't calm often, its a rare and very beautifull shot..
